Bringing the old world into the new

A conversation started between my supervisor, coworker, and myself. It seems that my coworker's 14 year old son has found himself an internet girlfriend, just sent her a birthday present, been talking for about 4 months, already plotting out when he can plan out a visit to her. It was cute and very this decade. But I made a joke.

"Its like an arranged marriage!"

Now the traditional view of an arranged marriage according to Wikipedia is a marriage that basically doesn't involve either partner. So the joke is pretty much crappy despite the laughs we had from it.

But...with the techy savvy world we live in, something new is happening.

Indian men being the main focus but it seems that online dating sites are becoming the new arranged marriages.

Even some sites help focus on certain demographics if that's your preference.

So what's the lesson kiddies? Traditions don't die, they just evolve.

I wouldn't know about

I wouldn't know about meeting someone from the internet arn't they all stalkers and psychos?

well that's what the buddy

well that's what the buddy system is for...plus back in the day I think they all were, preying and lurking, but today, everybody's on the internet in some form or another so...maybe...we just have to be a little more open to the possibility of meeting a normal, well-rounded person. =oP
