heroes and fahrenheit 9/11

a man by the name of ted rall has been flamed and death threated by the masses for a comic which pokes harsh and honest fun at footballer turned army man turned corpse turned hero, pat tillman. anyway, i got a kick out of it so here's the link:

and here's my 2 cents: going to fight a war for your country does not a hero make. but if it did, why is this guy getting so much attention, aren't they all heroes, every single person that's over there? no, he is not the nation's hero right now because he gave up his career and went to war, so have a lot of others. he's not a hero right now because he died, so have a lot of others. he's the hero because he was a football player and because the media need news content, ok, so let's just admit it. we are a nation full of football worshipping drama queens, and most of us, we really don't give much of a damn about the rest of those guys over there. unless we happen to know one of them personally, they are just a faceless, nameless mass, and i'm not interested in whether that's right or wrong at the moment, i just want all you guys who are crying over this tillman kid to think about that and admit it to yourselves, let's just stop kidding ourselves, ok?

in other news, i'm currently getting paid to listen to off the hook.

i'm so jealous, fahrenheit 9/11 is the most clever title i've heard in a long time.

love and kisses to oblivion,
