finally watched white noise today I've wanted to see it since i heard rumor that they used some real EVP's in it but if they did I didn't pick up on it. it ws a fun creepy movie but lacked somthing that the original evp's i heard had, there was something truly touching about them that just wasn't caught in the hollywoodization. it got me thinking though and i checked The American Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena who where consultants on the movie they have a basic EVP recording technique set out on their site and it made me wonder if it could be refined. in my technique a microphone and speaker are set up in a small anechoic chamber both hooked up to a computer the computer generates a sound file of white or pink noise let's say 2 hours long duplicates the file and then at the start of the session starts to play the file and record from the microphone simultaniously any person participating in the experement as a questioner listens to the line from the microphone but stays outside the chamber. normal questions with open microphone time between the questions for the entities to respond continues outside the chamber untill the end of the 2 hours. when finished (assuming the enteties have found a way to bring their words into physical existance) the sound of the original file(the file played) is subtracted from the final file(the file just recorded from the speaker resulting in a file with no sound unless there is contact made. this teqnique could be automated fairly simply to enable a 24hour or more recording to be filtered and checked for diffrence in minutes. the resulting sound files would be digital and hypothetically very clear.
